School of Psychological Sciences

Rozina Shafi

Psychology (BSc)

Why psychology?

I had always been intrigued by how humans worked and was always fascinated with people's behaviour. I took A-level psychology and decided I wanted to know more.

Why Manchester?

Manchester has some of the best professors and lecturers around. The course covers a lot in the first two years which is vital for a budding psychologist. Also, Manchester is a fantastic city. The University is one of the most highly recognised in the country, and since having been merged with UMIST, I thought it would be the best course.

What has been the highlight of the course so far?

Apart from meeting amazing friends, it has been working on group projects in the first year. Working as a team and performing our first psychology experiment was exciting. We dealt with real psychologists and achieved real results. A definite success.

Is the School a good place to work?

The School has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Lecturers will gladly take time out to spend with students when help or advice is needed. There is a good rapport between lecturers and students, and if any issues do arise, they are smoothly dealt with through the student representatives.
