Biography
Until July 2008, I was the Unit Manager of The Unit of Art in Medicine in the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences at the University of Manchester where I supervised Medical, Dental and Biological science students who wished to base their projects in the area of facial identification or reconstruction research. I supervised the only MPhil. Degree Course in Medical Art in England.
I hold a B.A.(Hons) degree in Communication Design and a M.A.A. professional, post-graduate diploma in Medical Art. I am therefore, a qualified member of the Medical Artists' Association of Great Britain for which I have been an elected director. I am a member of a European society of Medical Artists (AEIMS) for which I am British Treasurer.
I am one of only a handful of recognised Facial Photo-comparison Experts in the united Kingdom and I have 15 years experience in producing material and reports used in the production of facial identification statements for court. I appear regularly as a Facial Identification expert witness in the UK and have prepared affidavits and appeared in the same capacity in courts in the USA.
I am a founder member of the Forensic Image Analysis Group (FIAG) under the auspices of The British Association for Human Identification (BAHID) and a member of the International Association of Craniofacial Identification (IACI).
I am also CEO of SRi Forensics Limited, based in the University Incubator. SRi Forensics specialises in Facial Identification analysis, Video footage analysis, Evidence presentation to courts and installation of AV quipment into courts. We hold a number of contracts to supply our expertise and services to government bodies such as the CPS, HMRC and SFO among others.
