Biography
After training as an interpreter at SSIT ( Milan ), I completed a degree in English and French literature at IULM ( Milan ). I then went on to the University of Essex for an MA in Language Acquisition, and subsequently to the University of Edinburgh where I obtained a PhD in Linguistics in 2000.
I came to Manchester in 1999 to work with Gina Conti-Ramsden on a two-year ESRC project investigating the acquisition of verbs in children with Specific Language Impairment. I joined the former School of Education as a lecturer in 2002 and since 2004 I am part of the Division of Human Communication and Deafness where I teach on the BSc Speech and Language Therapy.
My research interests include first language acquisition with specific reference to Italian, English, and Spanish, childhood bilingualism, and the interface between syntax and pragmatics in monolingual and bilingual acquisition.
