Research groups
Research is organised into research groups. These groups produce internationally recognised research and members include world leaders in the development and evaluation of psychological and psycho-social interventions. These are:
- Audiology and deafness
- Clinical and health psychology
- Clinical neuroscience and language disorders
- Cognition and cognitive neuroscience
- Language and communication
Developments originating from the clinical research taking place in the school have had a significant impact on health service policy and service provision.
Funding
The School attracts significant funding from:
- UK and USA research councils
- Government sources such as the NHS
- Charities
- A variety of industrial partners
It also has the largest psychological treatment trial funded in the UK (£2.7 million for the MIDAS trial of Cognitive Behavioual Therapy for dual diagnosis).
Research Assessment Exercise (RAE)
The RAE is a series of exercises conducted nationally to assess the quality of UK research. During the RAE in 2001, each academic division in the School was awarded a rank of 5 on a scale 0-5* meaning all the School's academics are producing work of international or national excellence. For the RAE 2008 assessment, see RAE 2008 (Press release: 18 December 2008)
