Parents for Anxious Children – Manchester

Anxiety is one of the most common problems of childhood. Left untreated, it can continue for many years, and can be seriously distressing for both the child and for their family.

At the moment, we have very few ways of helping young children with anxiety, meaning that many continue to suffer into their teenage years.

Here at The University of Manchester we are carrying out research into the causes of anxiety in children. We have now developed a new treatment for anxious children who are under the age of ten years, and we have been funded by the Medical Research Council to carry out a trial.

Any anxious child under the age of ten years and their family, who are living in Greater Manchester (or able to travel there easily) can apply to take part.

This trial is no longer accepting any further referrals. If you are worried about your child's levels of anxiety, we would recommend that you speak to your GP, Health Visitor, or School Nurse.
