Specialist NHS Aphasia Clinic
A further method to get involved with an already existing project, is via referrals to the Specialist NHS Aphasia Clinic, which brings clinical and academic excellence together in the context of local NHS services. The clinic provides advice and guidance to speech and language therapists working within the North West, with regard to assessment and treatment of people with acquired language difficulties. Therapists may also refer clients if unsure of a client's suitability for participation in research projects within the Neuroscience and Aphasia Research Unit (NARU) at The University of Manchester. Involvement in the clinic, therefore, takes the form of referring clients to participate in research or, where appropriate, taking part in clinical and/or research testing.
