Evaluation zone
Unlike fitting and verification procedures, there is no international concensus on the best way to evaluate children's hearing aids. It is generally agreed that this is an essential element in the fitting process, and that a multi-faceted approach is probably best. MCHAS training emphasised the desirability of including real world evaluation in the evaluation process, and the questionnaires recommended can be downloaded from this zone. There are links to different speech tests that are available along with other evaluation tools such as the Situational Hearing Aid Response Profile (SHARP) which is a programme for calculating the audibility of different speech spectra. There is also a discussion paper about hearing aid evaluation, and comments on this are welcomed.
